SocioAfrica Demands Urgent International Investigation into Lethal Force and Human Rights Violations Following Disputed Cameroon Election

ABUJA, NIGERIA – October 27, 2025 – Socio Technologies Limited, through its regional initiative SocioAfrica, today issued a critical demand for an independent, international investigation into the lethal use of force and reported human rights violations against citizens and opposition supporters in Cameroon following the October 12th presidential election.

The call comes amidst widespread protests and escalating civil unrest after the country’s top court declared 92-year-old President Paul Biya the winner, extending his 43-year tenure in power.

SocioAfrica has gathered and analyzed footage and intelligence alleging that Cameroon’s armed forces used excessive and lethal force, resulting in civilian deaths and injuries during recent demonstrations in cities like Douala and Garoua. The organization contends these actions represent a severe crackdown on fundamental rights to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression.

“The international community must not stand silent while the democratic rights of Cameroonians are violently suppressed,” said Oluwaseun Medayedupin, Chairman of Socio Technologies Limited and Supreme Leader of SocioAfrica & SocioAsia. “We have compelling evidence suggesting systemic human rights abuses and the targeting of political opposition. We demand immediate transparency, the release of all arbitrarily detained protesters, and a comprehensive, independent inquiry into the violence surrounding this disputed electoral process.”

SocioAfrica stresses that the future of Cameroon requires a peaceful, inclusive, and legitimate democratic transition that respects the will of its people, particularly its youthful population. The organization calls on the African Union, the United Nations, and international human rights bodies to urgently intervene to prevent further loss of life and secure a path toward genuine democracy.

Demands from SocioAfrica:

  1. Immediate Independent Investigation: Launch a full, transparent inquiry into the reported deaths, injuries, and allegations of extrajudicial killings by security forces.
  2. Release of Detainees: Secure the immediate and unconditional release of all peaceful protesters, opposition leaders, and activists arbitrarily detained.
  3. Restoration of Rights: Ensure the immediate lifting of all restrictions on internet access and the rights to peaceful assembly and free speech.
