Abuja, Nigeria — SocioAfrica has issued a strong warning for greater integrity, transparency, and accountability within Nigeria’s financial and technology sectors, emphasizing that unlawful tampering with customers’ accounts or personal data constitutes a serious threat to national and digital security.
The organization stressed that banks, fintech companies, and IT service providers have a moral and legal responsibility to uphold the highest standards of data privacy and financial ethics.
“No citizen should ever wake up to find their account frozen or manipulated without lawful reason or due process,” said Oluwaseun Medayedupin, Founder of SocioAfrica. “Financial integrity is a pillar of national trust — protecting it is protecting the nation itself.”
💡 Financial Integrity as a National Security Priority
SocioAfrica is urging the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), and other regulatory agencies to strengthen oversight of financial and IT operations — especially as digital transactions dominate the modern economy.
Key Recommendations Include:
- Establishing strict penalties for unlawful account interference.
 - Enhancing inter-agency cooperation between financial regulators and cybersecurity units.
 - Introducing AI-driven monitoring systems to detect and prevent data breaches.
 - Launching a national awareness campaign on digital rights and consumer protection.

“Data and money are the lifeblood of modern society. Tampering with either is not just unethical — it destabilizes trust, business, and national progress,” Medayedupin added.
🌍 Protecting Citizens, Restoring Trust
SocioAfrica calls on all banks and IT companies to adopt transparent customer communication practices, immediate grievance redress mechanisms, and independent audit systems to prevent abuse of digital power.
The organization also reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with regulatory bodies, cybersecurity agencies, and global financial institutions to build a digital ecosystem rooted in ethics, justice, and accountability.
